Description
The Grinder Carbon combines 18 kt rose gold, carbon fiber e titanium in an object that must operate with rotation, with no play between the parts.
Carbon
Carbon fiber does not melt and cannot be welded: it is layered and cured, then machined by removal. This means gold and carbon cannot be joined like two metals—they must be crafted separately and fitted with tight tolerances, because no weld can exist between the two.
Its dark and opaque intertwining against the polished gold is a contrast that no alloy can reproduce: one absorbs light, the other gives it back.
Titanium goes where hardness is needed: it is the material of the parts that wear out, much stronger than gold and resistant to repeated use. Three different materials on a rotating piece mean three expansion coefficients that must be made to coexist.

The Artistry of Risivi & Co
An everyday object lacks the delicacy of evening jewelry: it is picked up, put down, and slipped into a pocket. The settings must therefore be protected below the surface line, and the edges rounded just enough not to wear down — without losing the design.
