In one of the film's most iconic and unsettling scenes, the protagonist Toni Servillo, who plays the President of the Republic Marino De Santis, finds himself listening to and almost “rapping” the bars of “Little girls cry.”. The 2015 cult song becomes a generational and psychological bridge: the president becomes obsessed with it, looking to Gué's lyrics for a key to his own inner “grace.”.
The quotation contained in the passage, “Sorrentino wouldn't have made a better take.”, written by Gué over a decade ago, resonates today like a fulfilled prophecy. The director said he discovered the rapper's music through his wife and was impressed by that “painful vein” hiding behind the aesthetics of success, a theme dear to Sorrentine poetics.
Gué's participation in “The Grace” is not limited to the soundtrack. The rapper appears in a memorable final cameo, bringing with him that aura of “King” that sets him apart. His style, with attention to detail, finds its natural complement in the jewelry we have been creating for him for years.
