Description
The Colosseum Ring It is a solid band in 18 kt gold which progressively widens: 1 cm at the bottom, 0.59 inches in the upper one. It is a ring worn like architecture, and it takes its name from the city where it is made.
Persian wax
It is fused with the technique of Persian waxthe wax piece is modeled, coated with refractory material, the wax is melted out, and the gold is poured into the void left behind. It is the oldest method in goldsmithing and remains the only one that allows for variable solids and thicknesses like these, which working from a sheet of metal would not provide.
Every casting is a unique piece: the wax mold is destroyed in the process, and must be remade for each ring.
The measure
Such a wide band rests on the finger for more than a centimeter, so it fits tighter than a thin ring of the same nominal size. It is better to order a size up compared to the usual one.

The Artistry of Risivi & Co
After casting, the piece comes out rough and must be entirely finished by hand: it is in the filing and polishing that a wide band becomes flat and continuous instead of wavy. On a smooth and polished surface like this, there is no decoration that can cover a defect.
